Premium hospitality-inspired The Great Room by Industrious will open its doors in early 2024 in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at Level 29, 85 Castlereagh Street.

The premium flex operator is making its first foray into the Australian market, following the growing demand Australian businesses for adaptability and convenience.

“We‘re delighted to be launching in the Australian market. Sydney is an important part of the growth in the overall business, and a place where the professional community is dynamic and sophisticated and actively looking for workspace that can flex to suit changing business requirements. We are confident that our entry into Sydney is timely and look forward to rapidly expanding with other offices in Australia,” said Josh Alfafara, General Manager, Australia, The Great Room.

Australian businesses increasingly require flexibility for their operations due to the unpredictability of factors like growth, headcount and geographic needs, and companies are recognising the importance of being nimble and responsive to changing circumstances.

Flexibility and creativity

A September 2023 CBRE report ‘Australian Flex Space in the Age of Hybrid Work’ suggests that businesses increasingly require flexibility for their operations. By utilising coworking spaces, businesses can scale their operations easily to accommodate fluctuating team sizes and project-based demands by adding desks and having the ability to book meeting rooms for short-term use.

“We offer a more holistic space in which to conduct business – a place to gather, create and innovate rather than just get things done. Workplaces should facilitate conversations and connection, and encourage inspiration and contemplation. We go the extra mile to curate an environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and productivity,” Mr Alfafara said.

The September 2023 CBRE report also found employers have struggled to get workers to return to the office since hybrid working conditions became normalised in the last few years.

Many employers now recognise that providing adaptable and versatile work environments is critical to attracting and retaining talent. The CBRE survey found that onsite cafe food and beverage, fitness facilities, shared meeting space and sustainable building features are other key considerations of occupiers. On-site amenities were said to encourage social interactions among employees, leading to improved collaboration and a sense of community within the office.

Renowned for combining productivity and hospitality, The Great Room’s luxuriously designed spaces foster connection and encourage collaboration. The Great Room currently has six locations in Singapore, including in Raffles Hotel, two in Bangkok and one in Hong Kong.

Key amenities of the new Sydney flex space include enterprise technology and connectivity, 24/7 office access, shower facilities, Monday Breakfast Club, Great Thirstday networking drinks, meeting and event spaces and exclusive business, learning and lifestyle events.
